A Wonderful bit of Theatre

Match 17: The second group of games got underway last night with at great opening match that saw the home team Germany take on border rival Poland. Germany had already secured 3 points easily disposing of Costa Rica, while Poland was looking to gain points after being upset by Ecuador last Friday. The entire match was back and forth with both sides playing strong defensively, and as the match went into halftime the score was 0-0, and as the sides emerged from the half there was a sense of restlessness among the German crowd. Polish keeper Artur Boruc was tested often and he was able to answer the call. Finally as the match entered injury time, the Germans were able to find the back of the net in the 91st minute. German sub Oliver Neuville was able to slide in a wonderful cross from David Odonkur, and crushed the hopes of Poland in this cup. This was a wonderful way to begin the second round of fixtures, and unfortunately from Poland they will need a miracle to make it out of the group stage.
